The Detroit Opera School of Music has had the use of new first-class pianos and digital pianos on a no-cost basis for the 2022-2023 school year. This arrangement is provided through a partnership with the Rockley Family Foundation, a nonprofit that supports music education. These instruments, as well as ones provided to other institutions or otherwise made available will be sold at a significant discount from retail pricing to perpetuate this valuable program and provide resources to the School of Music.
-Dr. Heather A. Russell, Director, School of Music
“Detroit Opera has had the use of new Yamaha pianos for our 2023-24 season. These pianos were provided for our rehearsal, coaching, and performance needs at no charge to us. We use these pianos for artist rehearsals, our upcoming performances, and our many community events.
To support this loan program, these and other fine pianos will be offered for sale to support this valuable partnership. All pianos will be sold at institutional prices not normally available in retail stores. In addition to the pianos on loan, allocated grands, uprights, digitals, hybrids, Disklavier player pianos, as well as a selection of used pianos will be sold at significant discounts from their regular prices. New and used pianos will be available for sale from top-quality brands such as Yamaha, Bösendorfer, Clavinova, Baldwin, Schimmel, Estonia, vintage Steinway and others. Most pianos are less than one-year old, come with a new manufacturer warranty, are tuned and ready to go.
This is an exceptional opportunity for you to purchase a high-quality piano and to help support the Detroit Opera loan program at the same time. Everyone who comes to the piano sale can enter a drawing to win a free pair of season tickets to one of our upcoming 2024-25 opera season’s productions of Verdi’s La traviata, Handel’s Rinaldo, Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte & Anthony Davis’s The Central Park Five.
Sincerely,
Patty Isacson Sabee, President & CEO
